Codex CLI 0.148.0-alpha.19

0.148.0-alpha.18→0.148.0-alpha.19·August 15, 2026 at 4:16 AM UTC

Alpha patch release (0.148.0-alpha.18 → 0.148.0-alpha.19) with internal work on network-policy auditing, exec-server messaging, and TUI turn/thread handling.

Changelog

  • [new] Network policy decisions can be surfaced as structured notifications, with audit support on the exec-server client path.
  • [changed] Hook configuration recognizes additional handler forms, including agent- and MCP-tool-oriented hooks.
  • [changed] Conversation/summary and related client event shapes were adjusted (including how message/result events are identified).
  • [changed] MCP server identity and related elicitation/metadata modeling were refined.
  • [changed] Login account parameters include an Amazon Bedrock-oriented path alongside existing Codex/ChatGPT options.
  • [removed] Several older response and workspace payload shapes were dropped in favor of the updated models (including prior thread-list and capability-roots discover responses).

Under the hood

  • Exec-server gains network-policy audit support and noise-relay message framing work for clearer client/relay communication.
  • TUI adds dedicated thread-event and turn-runtime modules so chat turn lifecycle handling is more explicit.
  • Environment knobs around escalate socket handling, exec-server exit-on-stdin-close behavior, and plugin metrics output were renamed or extended.
  • Data-model updates cover GitHub pull request items, Homebrew cask info, skill dependencies, usage error responses, websocket error wrapping, and request-user-input tool arguments.
  • Wiring/trace and marketplace manifest source enums were reshuffled as part of the same pass (including delegate/tool-trace and plugin source variants).

Upgrade notes

  • If you rely on CODEX_ESCALATE_SOCKET / CODEX_EXEC_SERVER_EXIT_ON_STDIN_CLOSE (or similarly named) environment variables, confirm the names expected by this build—several were renamed or split in this release.
  • Integrations that parsed removed payload types (for example prior thread-items list or workspace message shapes) should switch to the current response models.
