Cursor IDE

August 27, 2026 at 6:06 PM UTC

Patch-level desktop build (still 3.17.21 on latest and stable): Cloud Agents can start without a connected SCM repo, with Origin save, live browser preview, and optional Vercel publish.

Changelog

  • [new] Start from scratch, without a repo — Cloud Agents no longer need a connected GitHub or other third-party SCM provider to begin. Choose Start from scratch in the repo picker and prompt immediately; Cursor creates an Origin repo in the background. (changelog)
  • [new] Promote work to a real Origin repo when ready — Use Create repo to save the agent’s build under a custom or suggested name, with private or internal visibility. The scaffolded repo shows up under the Codebase tab for continued work or sharing.
  • [new] Live preview in the browser — The cloud agent’s environment is port-forwarded to your browser so you can preview the running app and use tools such as design mode.
  • [new] Publish via Vercel — Connect a Vercel account and publish to get a live URL for what you built. A Vercel account is required for publish.

Availability

Desktop latest and stable both report 3.17.21 for this build. The Aug 27, 2026 Cloud Agents “start from scratch” notes are on the public changelog.

Upgrade notes

  • Publishing a live URL needs a connected Vercel account; other start-from-scratch and preview flows do not.
  • You can stay on an Origin-backed scratch session until you explicitly create a repo—no SCM connection is required up front.
