Alpha desktop 0.1.502-g8c28fec for macOS, Windows, and Linux — in-thread bot tools, a chat resume pane, and offline release notes.

What's new

Alpha is 0.1.502-g8c28fec on macOS, Windows, and Linux (up from 0.1.501-g580ddee).

  • [new] The right pane now greets you with what this chat can pick back up — its app, recent files, and images — above the actions to open something new.
  • [new] Start a new sidebar section from a bot: right-click it, choose Move to new section, and type a name for the section.
  • [new] Connect the tools a Grok Bot asks for without leaving its thread. Connector cards show the tool’s name, description, and icon with Connect and Not now; Connect installs it, opens a sign-in window, finishes sign-in, and tells the bot so it can keep going.
  • [new] Answer a Bot’s sign-in and checkout forms, approve or deny purchases, command reviews, and local tool permissions right in the thread, and stop a Bot mid-run.
  • [new] Read recent changes from Changelog in the sidebar account menu. Release notes ship with the app and stay available offline.
  • [fix] Clicking a folder link in a chat now reveals that folder in Finder or your file manager instead of showing an error, and never launches anything.
  • [fix] Swiping sideways across a wide table or code block in a chat now only scrolls it, instead of sliding in message times and hiding the message’s actions.
  • [fix] Decks built from a Slides template now generate each image in the shape of its frame and crop it to fit, so images don’t stretch or run over text. Only background images sit behind text.
  • [changed] Toggle the right pane with Cmd+Option+B (Ctrl+Alt+B on Windows and Linux) instead of Cmd+Shift+B.
  • [removed] Project pages no longer show a Connectors tab, an Add connectors suggestion, or a Connectors option in the add menu.

Availability

This build is on the alpha channel for all three desktop platforms at once: macOS (Grok (Next) Alpha.dmg), Windows (Grok Setup.exe), and Linux (Grok (Next) Alpha.AppImage). No platform is lagging this drop.

Upgrade notes

Download the latest alpha desktop installer for your OS and replace your current app. Linux: new AppImage. macOS: open the dmg. Windows: run Grok Setup.exe. After updating, Changelog is also in the sidebar account menu, offline.
