Docs updates
No new or removed doc pages in this pass. Several pages were updated to drop indexing-specific guidance and clarify search, ignore files, and enterprise data handling.
Reference
- Ignore file: Docs now center on
.cursorignoreonly..cursorindexingignoreis no longer documented; copy no longer describes Cursor as indexing the codebase, and the default ignore list is no longer framed as indexing-only.
Agent
- Search: Privacy wording simplified (code not stored in plaintext). FAQs on source-code storage and team index sharing were removed; multi-root workspace notes now refer to each folder’s context for Agent rather than automatic indexing of all codebases.
Enterprise
- Privacy and data governance: Cloud Agents remain the feature that requires Cursor to store code (comparison to indexing removed). CMEK docs cover Cloud Agent data only (embeddings line removed). US data residency no longer lists semantic search or codebase indexing.
- Security hardening: CMEK guidance is Cloud Agent data only; account deletion and automatic expiry no longer mention indexed codebases (Cloud Agent snapshot expiry remains).
- LLM safety and controls: Ignore-file limits now state that terminal commands and MCP tools can still read ignored files.
- Network configuration:
repo42.cursor.shis documented for codebase search (was codebase indexing). - Identity and access management:
.cursorfolder contents no longer list an indexing cache.
Teams
- Admin API: Repo blocklists are described as blocking use as context (indexing language removed).
